Who to vote this elections?

Who to vote this elections?

Is this your first time casting a vote? Mine too!! So I did my research about elections, parties, who to vote, what’s the procedure, etc etc. I thought a small blog would help you understand whatever I’ve learned so far. So here we go!!!

Firstly, As a civil services aspirant, I’ve been in touch with national politics for over 7 years now. The time since congress was in rule, when bjp swept majority and now, it’s a hell of a journey! So I wish to help avoid the mistakes and remove the misconceptions before we cast our votes tomorrow!

Let us understand basics of parliament. Parliament consists of loksabha, Rajya sabha and the president. We shall discuss Rajya sabha and president later. Tomorrow we are going to have Lok sabha elections in our constituency. A state is divided into multiple constituencies for the convenience of voting. Different states have different number of constituencies. Each constituency will be represented by an MP who shall be directly elected by us(people). Our MP represents us, our constituency, it’s progress and problems in the parliament. That’s the reason, we need to be cautious in choosing our representative.

Now what does the constituency and MP have to do with our elections tomorrow? How will Modi and Rahul Gandhi be affected with our votes? Why can’t we elect them directly? Should we vote for a national party or a candidate who will represent us and develop our constituency the best?

Tomorrow we have to cast our vote for an MP, who will represent our constituency. I am a voter in Malkajgiri constituency of Telangana. What is yours? Find out soon. Modi and Rahul Gandhi won’t be personally affected by our votes. Because we do not vote for a national party or the party face, but a local candidate who’s contesting to be our next leader.

It is confusing right? Let me clear up. You choose one of many candidates contesting in your constituency to be the MP(Leader if your constituency). Such several MPs of different constituencies in different states form Lok sabha. Depending on the number Of MPs won, the majority party is decided. That majority party, will now choose a leader in the form of a PM. So you don’t directly vote for PM or a party, but to a local representative.

Hoping the basics are thorough, we shall move forward to my constituency- Malkajgiri. As per 2014, it is the largest constituency in India. Proud right? Now check for the list of candidates contesting for this constituency. Revanth reddy from congress, Rajasekhar reddy from TRS, Vijay kumar Goud from TDP and RamChander Rao from BJP are the key contestants. Now go to myneta.info and search for the track record of the above candidates. There are independent candidates also, if you want to try someone new(out of big parties). Choose your leader after your research about them.

I have chosen my leader for the next five years without any bias and I’m going to deliver my most important duty tomorrow- Casting vote! Are you with me?
